Sunshine Coast photographer Ryan Jones has been a busy man of late. After returning home from a fruitful 3 month jaunt on the West Coast he was barely home long enough to catch up with everyone before he was off again, this time down the coast with Bodyboardshop team rider Drew Innocend. Ryan's golden run continued with the boys lucking into fun uncrowded waves for the majority of their trip. Hawaiian Spencer Skipper is widely regarded as the owner of one of Bodyboardings most revered styles, which is why here at Eppo's Bodyboardshop we're more than a little excited to have Skipp in store this Sunday August 15. The style fest doesn't end there though, joining Skipp for Manta's East coast Promo tour is Brendan Backshall with special guests including Thomas Robinson. There'll be signings + heaps of giveaways to be had! It's all going down this Sunday Aug 15 at Eppo's Bodyboardshop Mooloolaba from 10am - 11am. After a solid top 4 finish at the National Titles last year Eppo's Bodyboardshop's youngest team rider Ben Newland has gone from strength to strength with his surfing improving ten fold since. Being a wave rider on the Sunshine Coast can be frustrating at times, especially when there's pumping waves elsewhere on the east coast & you're faced with tiny lines at your local. Eppo's team rider Steven 'Tubba' Venn understands this so he rounded up local photographer Nathan Tyack and headed south to greener pastures. Here's some throwaways from the trip. The South American leg of the bohemoth IBA World tour came to an end at the weekend with the Peru Inka Challenge at Chilca beach. French wonderkid Pierre Louis Costes continued his recent good form by taking out the event with a Backflip that needs to be seen to be believed. Another rider in great form is our own Jake Stone, after a semi final finish in pumping waves at Arica, Chile jake managed to reach the Quarter finals in Peru before going down to current world Champ Jeff Hubbard. Among Jakes highlight reel is a clean double roll which has Eppo stoked that the move isn't alltogether forgotton. Check out the final day action below.

We here at Eppo's Bodyboardshop are massive fans of South Coast lad James Kate's work, which is why we were so excited when we heard the multi talented "flames" is about to release his latest piece of work - Evoke The Stoke. This outing sees Flames venture a little further afield than his usual haunts around the South Coast - the movie is based on a team trip he did to Europe & Morocco with fellow stokers Jason Finlay & Jones Russel. He was lucky to meet up with photographer & fellow Sunshine coaster Ryan Jones who had already been down there for a few weeks. They both returned with reports of really fun waves & the had some insane shots to back up their claims. Eppo's Bodyboardshop Team rider Nick Mcneil recently jetted over to join good friend and fellow Eppo's team rider Jake Stone in WA. Nick reports that even though it hasn't been pumping the whole time there's still been plenty of fun waves to be had! Just before he left nick secrured backing from The No.6 and says that the boards have been going insane! Jake & Nick also met up with Sunshine Coast photographer Ryan Jones. Nick's due home in a couple of days and intends to head straight back to work as a soil scientist in order to save some $$ for his next adventure. Thanks to Ryan Jones for the great shots.

The sunshine coast has been lucky enough to be blessed with consistant 4ft+ swell for the past few weeks. The great run of waves has given local photographers plenty of oppourtunities to nail that perfect shot, one of the few leading the pack of local shooters is Ryan "stormboy" Jones. After spending alot of time filming bodyboarding Ryan has emerged as one of the Sunshine Coast's leading bodyboard photographers.

Team rider Jake Stone has proven himself Mr Consistent after finishing a close 2nd in consecutive Australian Pro tour events recently. Jake was just beaten by an in form Mark Mccarthy from South Africa in the Soldiers Beach Pro at Newcastle on the weekend. After scoring 2 perfect 10's in his semi final Jake couldn't quite back it up in the final. Although he may be feeling a little bummed about coming so close 2 weeks in row Jake now finds himself at the top of the ratings heading into the 3rd round in April, something that will surely bring a smile to his face! Other noteworthy efforts from Bodyboardshop team riders were Cade Sharp (quarter finals) & Michael Novy (semi Finals).

He was on his way to the first leg of the Australian Tour - The Rheopaipo Pro at Duranbah on the gold coast where he will join fellow Eppo's Bodyboardshop team members Cade Sharp, Drew Innocend, Jake Stone & Steven Venn. Mr Novy is hoping to better his 2nd overall rating from last years tour with a solid 2009.

The dust has finally settled after yet another frantic season on Oahu's famed North Shore. Four bodyboardshop team riders were right in the thick of the action. Michael Novy, Jake Stone, Cade Sharp & first timer Drew Innocend all report some pumping waves were had albeit with the usual heavy crowds. The boys collected a few frame grabs and shots from some of the filmers and photographers who slave away on the beach day after day to capture all the madness. Novy doing the blog thing

While in store today gathering a few things for his annual Hawaii jaunt Eppo's Bodyboardshop team rider Michael Novy informed us he's has decided to share his thoughts on a regular basis via Michaelnovy.blogspot.com . As Ben Lee pointed out Mr Novy has probably started the blog to fill in time between MSN conversations with young girls and checking myspace every 6.7 seconds. We've heard he's even in the process of developing a waterproof mini computer so he can even stay up to date in between waves. Here's what the boys at movement had to say about their latest issue.

The quickest and easiest way to claim superiority over your fellow man is through the art of competition. Kick his arse and you shall be the better person, yet for years bodyboarding struggled with the fact that the best weren't competing and even when they did we struggled with the idea of whether flapping around in waist high slop would help us understand anything. So this issue we took the red felt tipped biro to the IBA'sWorld Tour. It's now awash with Australian Dollars, Euros and Brazilian Real - all of it legal mind you - and is a competitive, commercial and, eventually, a marketable success. Of course, things are never quite that easy so you best read the unedited version written through the men toiling behind the scenes. Issue 26 also plays host to one of the hottest lady spreads you will ever see in a surfing magazine. I know, if you wanted porn you'd pay for it, but this is perfectly legit because that spread is in fact a vehicle for our summer clothing guide. Genius! There are surfing trips to Bali and South Australia, run concurrently through the one spread because we were short of time and ideas. And finally, and most of all leastly, there's that scurrilous man from Port Macquarie, Damian King, back between these pages and back mouthing off. Brilliant! On sale @ Bodyboardshop now.

Bodyboardshop Team rider & 2X World champion, Damian King has just announced premiere dates for his 2nd movie release, The Joker 2. It's been 4 years since the release of The Joker, Kingy has been flying under the radar for the majorityof that time, doing his own thing gathering footage on a bunch of sneaky wave hunting missions. Now he's ready to show everyone just how successful those missions were! Kingy says he's super excited for people to see the movie, "It’s completely different to the first one, but very similar in a lot of ways as well".

Some friends of Bodyboardshop's run a couple rad little surf stores on the Sunshine Coast called Solace. Now, I know what you're thinking ....surf shop - Bright lights, Bright colours, pumping top 40 music that makes your ears bleed, pretty girls behind the counter who have no idea what they're talking about. PJ has already captured a heap of quality footage up & down the eastcoast plus a stint in Hawaii this past winter. hey guys, Michael Novy here.
I've just hi jacked the blog to let yous all know about the final round of the Aussie Tour and the National Titles which was held on the weekend at Port Mac
Just like previous years the waves started of around 3ft and really contestable, but detiriated by the final rounds. I was stoked to make another final but couldn't find the waves, finishing 4th, while Tom Rigby took it out with Nathan Branch and Dave Winchester coming in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Notable mentions for the National Titles go out to Thorpe Waluew who was ripping throughout the event and went home state champ in the grommet division.
Two other team riders also did well was Caloundra's Steven "Tubba" Veinn, who was surfing well throughout the event to claim 4th place in the juniors division and Gold Coasts Joe Clark finishing 5th in the pro tour event.

The Lucky Squirrel Club's debut release finally arrived at Bodyboardshop this week. HELLO is a breath of fresh air in a market that can sometimes feel a little stale. After years & years of anticipation FIRE - a Film by Mike Stewart & Scott Carter - is finally ready to be released. To celebrate, the film will be premiering all across the country starting in Cronulla in early October. Eppo's Bodyboard shop is proud to present the Sunshine Coast premiere @ Kawana Community Hall, Saturday October 18 5:00pm.
